Shilparamam Jathara Vizag is a popular sculpture park in Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam. The goal of constructing this village was to create and preserve traditional crafts while also providing an environment conducive to their development.
This Madhurawada crafts village was founded in 2009 and spans 28 acres (110,000 m2) of land. Shilparamam Jathara’s mission is to educate visitors about traditional art and culture while also showcasing its beauty.
The village’s entrance was designed to look like a village house with three windows at the top. From these windows, you can see sculptures of villagers looking down. Shilparamam is surrounded by beautiful scenery, and the village’s entrance is artistically decorated. The village has 36 stalls with woodworks, clothing, jewellery, and local handicrafts from each region of the country. Each stall also has a selection of traditional foods.
Sculptures at Vizag’s Shilparamam Jathara
Visitors to the village will find handmade sculptures by regional and local artists here. One of the exhibits here depicts a potter’s entire family at work on the pottery wheel. A life-like pair of bulls, a sculpture with the face of Mother Teresa, and a hermit are among the village’s other interesting sculptures.
Walking through the park, you’ll notice several sculptures that are stunning works of art, such as two ladies sitting atop a circular platform. The sculpture of a giant multi-colored grasshopper is hidden among the trees in the background of this sculpture. Here are some huge elephant statues that make for great photo opportunities. A long list of villagers’ sculptures that line the path is quite impressive.
In this village, life scenes have been recreated through sculpture, such as a snake charmer sitting under a tree. The ladies of a village gathered around the village well is another magnificent scene created at the park. A model of a traditional fishing boat with sculptures of fishermen is also on display in the village.
