At Visakhapatnam railway station, a mock drill was organised
On Thursday, the Civil Defence Organisation of Waltair Division held a real-time rescue and relief drill at Visakhapatnam train station.
The railways civil defence force is a volunteer-run organisation established to assist in disaster relief and contingency planning. In an atmosphere of bomb blast/fire disaster in a busy area like Visakhapatnam station, a real-time rescue operation was organised jointly by civil defence personnel and Central Railway to evacuate injured victims.
In the presence of Waltair Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy and senior divisional safety officer Praveen Bhati, the exercise was carried out. Sudhir Kumar Gupta and Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRMs, oversaw the entire operation. DRM Anup Satpathy, who spoke at the event, stressed the need of doing mock drills to allow for the exchange of expertise, ideas, and procedures.
