The award was presented to Mayor R. Bhagyalakshmi, Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundakar, and other officials on Tuesday at the MHUA’s ‘Smart Cities – Smart Urbanisation’ conference in Surat.
Few cities including Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, received a 4-star rating.
Despite the fact that Vijayawada was not a part of the Smart Cities Mission, Ms. Bhagyalakshmi said it was given the rating because of various smart initiatives such as CLAP (Clean AP), the installation of solar panels on existing government and school buildings, the rollout of 250 CNG auto rickshaws for day-to-day garbage collection, and the implementation of actions listed in the Water Resource Management Plan under AMRUT 2.0.
