Sri Sri Nookambika Ammavari Temple, also known as Sri Nookkalamma Ammavari Devasthanam, is a temple located in Gavarapalem, Anakapalle, Visakhapatnam.
On Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, a large number of devotees flock to Sri Nookambica Ammavari Temple near Visakhapatnam to seek the goddess’s blessings.
The biggest festival of the year is Nookalamma Jathara, which takes place on Kottha Amavasya, the day before Ugadi. History of Nookambika Temple
This temple was built by Ppalaraju in honour of Kakatambika, a family goddess. Later on, she was known as Nookambika or Nookalamma. Thousands of people from all over Andhra Pradesh flock to the temple for worship on “Kottha Amavasya,” the day before Ugadi.
In ancient times, Sri Sri Sri Nookambika Ammavaru was known as Sri Anagha Devi, one of the nine Shakti forms. The temple was renovated after a few years during the reign of the Kakatiya kings, and the same goddess was worshipped under the name Sri Kakatamba. Pujas and diparadhanas are performed here on a daily basis. The daily pujas and other rituals were disrupted as dynasties fell apart, and the temple gradually lost its former glory.
In 1935, the Endowments Department took over the Sri Sri Sri Nookambika Ammavari temple. This temple’s funds are used to renovate temples in the Godavari and Berhampur districts.
The temple now earns 68 lakhs per year. New cottages and roads to the temple were built with the help of donors.

The temple costs nothing to visit and the timings are 05:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 04:00 PM to 08:00 PM. However, the temple charges some costs to some of the pooja and special darshanam.

Devotees who pay the prescribed fee of Rs 1116/- can perform poojas on the required day. After performing poojas in their manes and gotrams, prasadam will be mailed to these devotees. Special poojas will be performed in the devotees’ names, with the prescribed offerings being collected from the devotees.

- Darsanams start at 6:30 a.m.
- Raja Bhogam is open from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Noon Bhogam is open from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Veda Parayanam
- Temple closes at 8:00 p.m.
