Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will launch several port projects in Visakhapatnam Tomorrow
Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will lay foundation stones for multiple port projects in Vishakhapatnam Port Trust on February 24.
These projects are part of PM Gati Shakti’s attempts to reduce logistical costs, strengthen supply chains, and make local goods more globally competitive, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways on Tuesday (22 February).
The PM Gati Shakti – National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity, a digital platform, brings 16 ministries together for integrated planning and coordinated infrastructure connectivity projects, including Railways and Roadways.
Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry/land ports, UDAN, and other infrastructure programmes of various Ministries and State Governments are included.
PM Gati Shakti covers economic zones such as textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defence corridors, electronic parks, industrial corridors, fisheries clusters, and agri zones in order to promote connectivity and increase the competitiveness of Indian businesses.
The minister will also inaugurate the CEMS (Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding) skill development facility in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday (February 23) as part of the Sagarmala project, which aims to provide skilled manpower as a crucial foundation for Coastal Community Development, according to the ministry.
He will also review the duties of the Dredging Corporation of India.
