NTPC Pump Beach is another name for Thantadi Beach Vizag. In Vizag, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) built a power plant to supply power to the surrounding villages, cities, and states. Because water was required for power generation, the power plant was built on the beach, earning the beach the name NTPC Pump Beach.
A natural view is interspersed with an architectural view from the power plant on this beach. Though the beach is one of Vizag’s most popular tourist attractions due to its breathtaking scenery and scenic beauty, it is also one of the country’s most dangerous beaches. Because of the massive tidal waves, swimming and playing near the waves are prohibited at the beach.
Thanthadi is a large black sand beach with a lot of space. The beach’s port or bridge is a popular spot for capturing Instagram-worthy photos because you can get under the bridge and take photos while waves lash at your feet.
Visitors to the beach are not permitted to cross this bridge because it is dangerous.

To get to the beach, you’ll have to drive around the Visakhapatnam steel plant for about 20 kilometres, then take a winding road through fields, ponds, and other smaller plants. The best way to get to the beach is to hire a private cab from one of Vizag’s top car rental companies and enjoy the ride.
Best Time To Visit Thantadi Beach :
Late afternoon and evening are the best times to visit this beach. It is also advisable to plan a trip to the beach in a group because exploring the route to the beach alone can be difficult. Because there are no food stalls on the beach, you will need to bring your own food and water.
